This CD does not set out to trace the history of jazz as such, but attempts, using just over an hour of what I hope listeners will find to be pleasant and easy-to-listen-to music, to illustrate how classical, folk, jazz and popular music influenced each other during the period from c. 1870 to the mid 20th century and beyond: hence the title ‘Connections’. These influences were very definitely a two-way affair: a lot of give-and-take and learning from each other was going on…
Das Ziel dieser CD ist es nicht, die Geschichte des Jazz als solche aufzuzeichnen, sondern vielmehr einen Versuch zu unternehmen, in gerade mal einer Stunde durch angenehme und hoffentlich auch den Zuhörer ansprechende Musik zu illustrieren, wie klassiche und populäre Musik, Volksmusik und Jazz einander von der Zeit um 1870 durch die Mitte des 20.
